Green Pet Collars

The desire to be more environmentally friendly — to go green — has changed the way people shop for all sorts of things, fancy pet collars are no exception. Using environmentally friendly materials for pet collars and pet leashes is not only good for the planet, but some of them get that comfy worn-in feeling and have a nice stretch to them.
Green pet collars and pet leashes come in a few different forms, recycled, organic cotton, or hemp to name a few of the most popular.
Recycled Pet Collars
A company called Etta works with bicycle shops in Seattle to make recycled pet collars and pet leashes from old tires. They’re made from hand selected inner tubes and are finished with a blue, yellow or red accent stitching.
Krebs uses retired nylon climbing rope to make pet leashes. These ropes are regularly tossed to ensure climber’s safety but they still have a lot of life in them. The ropes are tested for durability then washed and formed into pet leashes.
Hemp Pet Collars

Hemp Pet Collars
Hemp is an earth-friendly crop and it works well to make durable yet comfortable pet collars and leashes. Hemp pet collars are typically hypoallergenic and machine washable, similar to organic cotton pet collars. They’ll both get that comfy, worn-in feeling for your pet too. Don’t worry, you don’t have to sacrifice a fun design for this earth-friendly material. Hemp dog collars and cat collars come in a fun range of colors and designs.
Features On Green Collars
Green pet collars come with many of the same features as other fancy cat collars or fancy dog collars. For instance green cat collars will come with the breakaway safety feature to help keep kitty safe. You can also get green dog collars made for specific breeds, like the martingale dog collars.
Of course green pet collars come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, colors and designs. So you can have just as much fun with them as you can with regular fancy pet collars.
